Counselling & Therapy
In addition to a masters degree, Wayne has received specific training in marriage & family therapy. This education and his experience working as a counsellor with children and their families have energized him to help others realize the fullness of peace and joy that await them and their relationships.
Psychotherapy is the process of a counsellor working with a client(s) to find hidden solutions. There is a good explanation of this available here (scrolling down to “What is Therapy?”). The good news is that there are always answers – it just takes work to find them.
Wayne's practice areas include depression, anxiety, anger management, stress management, grieving/loss, sexuality concerns, and personal growth, in addition to parenting and relationship issues.
- CLIENTS: Therapy can take place with individuals, couples, or families, including young children to older adults.
- LOCATION: The counselling office is located in the neighbourhood of Canyon Meadows – in Calgary’s southwest.
- FREQUENCY: Therapy sessions are often weekly until the chosen goal has been reached.
- DURATION: Reaching a client’s goal may take from 5 to 20 sessions, each usually lasting 50 minutes.
- FEE: A session costs $90 (as a limited practice, GST is not currently charged), with payment a responsibility of the client - not insurance nor any other third-party payor.* Payment is accepted by cash or cheque (PayPal can also be arranged if needed).
- BOOKING: If it sounds like this service might be of use to you, check the booking page and then send an e-mail (ottenbreit@VIVENS.org) or telephone ((403) 281-2229) to schedule an appointment. During this first session, it is Wayne’s practice to check if both he and his clients feel there can be success working together. It is useful when the intake document is completed for this first meeting, allowing your therapist to be better prepared to help you. This document also gives further details that are important for clients to understand.
Wayne strives to follow all relevant provincial laws and regulations, as well as the codes of ethics of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Association of Christian Counselors.
